Welcome to the 5th and final instalment of
“Isolation made me do it”.
Disclaimer
I would like to start this blog by sending love and prayers to all, in this incredibly scary time that we are currently living through.
I would like to make it clear that these posts are in no way trying to make light of Covid 19 and the colossal and devastating impact it continues to have on so many lives.
Writing is something that helps me to get through the tough times and documenting the things I have been doing and experiencing through this time has been a huge help to maintaining a healthy state of mind.
The intention is to help others and hopefully create some happiness and positivity in these dark times if only for a moment.
A brief look back
The idea for this mini series came from a conversation I had with my mum on the phone, I was talking to her about some of the things that I had been inspired to try during my time in Isolation, and just like that I had the idea to turn it into a mini series.
It has been a welcome distraction to sit and write them every week and I’m so glad that I did, previous to this I had started to forget how much I enjoyed writing, it had become more of a chore than a hobby and I just couldn’t motivate myself. Creating this series has really helped me as cheesy as it sounds to fall back in love with writing again.
Time to reflect
Quarantine has given me a lot of time for reflection and also the opportunity to read other inspiring blogs by some really talented writers, It has helped remind me that the only thing stopping me from moving forward and succeeding in life is myself and the hurdles that I create.
At the end of 2019 I like many others that I have spoken too had such high hopes for 2020 and all the exciting milestones we had hoped to achieve. Covid was and is the reason a lot of those plans wont come to fruition or at least that was my mindset initially.
As I’ve sat writing and reading blogs it has helped me to realise that yes there are many things I wont be able to do, but on the flip side there are many many things I can do to help me achieve these goals as soon as it becomes possible to do so again. I thought about sitting back and allowing this year to be a complete wash out, but actually what this year has taught me is that time is precious and it should not be wasted. There will always be things that get in the way or try to prevent us from achieving our dreams, but if we recoil and give into these restrictions every time they occur we will never achieve anything, we will simply live our lives being defeated. I don’t want to look back and think I wasted precious time that so many others would give anything to have, I want to look back and be proud of all the things I achieved despite the the obstacles I faced.
What’s next?
My intention for the rest of 2020 wether it be in Isolation or not is to better manage my time and really make the most of it. I am going to focus on what it is I had hoped to achieve this year and assess if it is still possible. If it is great, I will give it my all to get it done, but if it’s not I want to do everything I can to ensure that I start next year with a plan to put those thoughts and idea’s into actions.
I Said it in my last post and il say it again, I am an optimist, some might describe me as annoying but I describe it as a mechanism for coping, it’s about doing what you need to get through, despite what others may think and as long as it’s not hurting anyone else, you do you!
To conclude this mini series I want to leave you with these 3 words;
- Gratitude
- Kindness
- Hope
Gratitude shown for precious time given and remembering to share Kindness to all in order to provide Hope that better day’s will come.
Thank you to all that have joined me on this mini series, I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
QUESTION(S) OF THE WEEK
Would you like to see another mini series and if so is there a specific subject or topic you would like me to focus on?
Share a smile not a judgement
and
Lead with kindness
